The French refer to “terroir” in wine making, meaning a group of vineyards from the same region, belonging to a specific appellation, and sharing the same type of soil, weather conditions, which contribute to give its specific personality to the wine. Every community should have it’s own character, a spiritual terrior. Design that is grounded in the spiritual terrior is going to have a big impact on it’s community.
