'I am standing on the threshold of another trembling world. May God have mercy on my soul.' With these words, IRA volunteer Bobby Sands began his hunger strike on March 1st 1981. Sands’ undoubted act of personal bravery brought Ireland to a standstill as the outside world looked on to see an intense battle unfold between an unseen prisoner and the might of the British Government. 66 DAYS tells the factual story of Bobby Sands’ life for the first time on film. As we step through the day-specific narrative, we reveal the man at the centre of events, in a probing personal portrait that separates man from myth, and fact from fiction. Seeing himself as a soldier in a conflict, Bobby Sands died for the right to be recognised as a political prisoner. He chose hunger strike, against the wishes of his movement’s leadership, in the full knowledge it would bring the world’s attention to his fight. Using eye-witness testimony, unseen archive, reconstructions and animation, this cinematic odyssey serves as both the definitive account of a self-created Irish martyr and a seismic moment in 20th century Irish history, the legacy of which we continue to live with today. In 66 DAYS we document an ordinary life lived at the epicentre of a turbulent and tragic conflict, which then became extraordinary as a young idealist starved himself to death to preserve the integrity of the republican movement he loyally served. The film charts sets how Sands became the architect of his own destiny, and saw him ascend into the ranks of international icon status. Sands own words form the heart of the film, through his many poems, letters and ‘comms’ all penned inside prison, and in particular, his personal diary which he kept for the first 17 days of his hunger strike. Sands’ collected writings provide an invaluable window into his beliefs, feelings and aspirations. They serve to place his voice at the centre of the film and take us inside his head, the place where Sands eventually found freedom. Sands’ prison diary is perhaps the most unique historical document in existence of one man’s articulation of his beliefs while on hunger strike. This powerful handwritten diary has never been seen before in public, and we have secured exclusive access to this historical treasure trove, which forms the spine of the film’s narrative. Threaded through Sands’ personal biography we bring our audience on a parallel journey of understanding to reveal the events that first politicised the young Sands and the influences of Irish Republican history on Sands’ actions which he learned during his imprisonment. In this regard, the film is as interested in the WHY of Bobby Sands’ story as it is the WHAT. Sands died on May 5th 1981, aged 27 and parliaments across the world stopped for a minute's silence in his honour. While Sands came to prominence in death, this film aims for the first time to explore his life, examining the powerful character he was as it charts the reasons he chose the death of a martyr. 66 DAYS unifies the myriad threads of the complex, 25-year long Northern Ireland conflict into one single overarching narrative. In the film’s final chapter, we capture Sands’ legacy. Former comrades and commentators reflect on how the 66 days of Sands’ 1981 hunger strike changed Irish history forever.

My Story and How I Started My name is Jason R. Samy. I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember, but I got my first experience with a 35mm SLR in my early adult life. Over time I converted to digital and I haven't ever looked back. My portfolio displays many styles of photography that I’ve learned over the years and I continue to expedient with different techniques. I started off shooting anything in front of me, but ask anyone who knows me; I’m rarely without my camera. Outside of taking pictures of my friends, family, and things around me, I started shooting different dance events and shows. That got me started on some portrait and portfolio work. And this eventually led to my first engagement and wedding shoots. I can say because of my experiences, that i am somewhat a “jack of all trades” kind of photographer. I am still striving to find my niche in photography and learn with every push of the trigger on my camera, but I love to photograph everything. A lot of events in life happen in the blink of an eye, and photos are once in a life time moments that I like to capture and share with everyone. Photography started as a hobby for me, and as lucky as it sounds to some, it is now a passion that I get paid to do. Booking, Contacting, and Information I have my own equipment; everything from cameras, flashes, and backdrops. I’m available for location shoots and have access to a studio if necessary. If the event/shoot requires more then one photographer, I can have a 2nd or 3rd photographer if wanted, or needed. From 1997 to 1998, Cherry worked in Roy Hargrove's “Crisol” Latin jazz band, which performed in Havana, Cuba. During this same period, he also worked w/baritone saxophonist, Hamiett Bluiett, recording  'With Eyes Wide Open' on Justin-Time records. In 2001, Cherry toured Europe for the first time with his own group. He also released his latest CD, The Spirit Speaks on the Canadian Justin Time label, inspired by the great jazz organist Jimmy Smith with whom he had also recently worked.Ed was asked to perform at the 'Vodaphone Madarao Jazz festival' in 2002 in Madarao Japan with his quartet featuring trumpeter Jon Faddis. In 2003 Ed performed with his quartet at Detroit Jazz Festival.  Right now,Ed is a member of vocalist Paula West quartet as well as leading his own trio. In addition to his stellar work as a sideman and as a critically acclaimed leader, Ed Cherry also has impressive credentials as a music educator. He taught guitar at Essex Community College in Newark, NJ from 1995 to 1996, and at the Henry Street Settlement in New York City from 1996 to 1997. He was also a faculty member at Montclair State University, School of Fine and Performing Arts for J.O.Y. The Akira Project is a crowd-sourced, non-profit project meant to create a live action fan trailer of AKIRA, the renowned manga-turned-anime film from the late 1980′s; a stunning example of both mediums as art forms. While Hollywood has been working on a live-action Akira movie for a few years now, we, as fans, wanted to take a shot at making our own adaptation. A chance to stick as close to the source material as possible. A chance to do Akira Justice. We launched an Indiegogo campaign in July 2012 as part of a crowd sourcing effort to make this project come to life. Many people contributed not just financially but offered their time and talent to help the production that was shot in Montreal, Quebec from November 2-5th 2012. What started out as a simple idea between two guys having a beer (Hey! It’d be cool to see Kaneda ride his bike around Neo-Tokyo!), became a global endeavour, filled with adventures and hurdles, involving more than 40 artists in 12 different countries. After a year and a half in post-production, we are proud to present the project to Akira fans the world over. We hope to have done justice to the timeless work of Katsuhiro Otomo and look forward to, someday, seeing the full scope of the Akira story translated to the big screen as a live-action.

I am a San Diego based photographer living in Oceanside California. I was first introduced to photography during my college years as an art history major. I was hooked after my first shutter click. Photography quickly turned into an expensive hobby and to fund that hobby I started shooting small weddings. ​ I’m happy to say that hobby has now turned into something I’m very passionate about. I’ve always been a creative individual. Whether it be with a pencil, paintbrush or camera, I enjoy telling a story through the images I create. In my spare time I enjoy road cycling, world travel, and exploring new foods and cultures. I also have an interest and appreciation for anything design related from industrial design, architecture, fashion, and interior design.

Bob Evans Bio Bob comes from a background of, perhaps one of the most creative professions, engineering. Some may think that this is not such an obvious background for an artist, however, all good engineers know that creating something from nothing gives you tremendous creative rush and oft times you find that the best engineers are frequently very accomplished musicians, artists and in my case, photographers.. Landscape Photography of Bob Evans A late comer to art photography Bob spent his early career working in engineering designing lifesciences equipment and then latterly moving into general management. During this time he and his family have lived in England, Florida, New York and latterly in Massachusetts. Bob travels frequently on business and always takes a camera with him as you never know what that perfect image will appear. During this time he had a very active interest in photography, probably coming from his father who is also an accomplished photographer. Over the years as he honed his expertise he found that what could best be loosely described as ‘landscape’ was his metier. Particularly in the abstraction from reality of key elements helped by almost exclusive use of black and white. Influences Early influences were Fay Godwin, a very accomplished english landscape photographer, sadly no longer with us. Her work evokes a deep empathy with the land and her keen eye and technical skill inspired him greatly. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fay_Godwin). Ansel Adams whose images of Yosemite and the American West together with the deep technical knowledge and skill in producing the finished print and treating the entire process as a pre-visualised expression was particularly welcome. Bill Brandt and Weegee, where the technical element was secondary to the image and the emotions evoked by them. Similarly with Cartier Bresson and his ‘decisive moment’, although Bob has never particularly focused on people photographs, on the occasions he has you can most defiantly see there influences, as shown in the 'people' gallery. Photo’s by Bob Evans Building on that creative engineering background Bob continued to hone his his technical skill and artistic eye. An early Nikon fan, Bob’s first ‘proper’ camera was an Nikon FM, an excellent manual workhorse that was used extensively. Over the years Bob has used many other cameras. For those ‘decisive moment’ shots he always carried a Minox 35GT, usually loaded with Ilford HP5. For his main camera he rapidly moved beyond 35mm and whilst he was using film his preferred outfit was a Bronica ETRS and then moved to a Mamiya RB67 and a home made 5x4. All of his darkroom work was done at home with a full setup for black and white and colour and many happy hours spent in the darkroom. Ilford was the brand of choice for monochrome work usually FP4 for larger formats and HP5 for 35mm both developed in ID11. This background in the craft of photography certainly helped in the transition to digital and he now spends more time in front of the computer then he ever did in the darkroom! he now uses Nikon systems exclusively, keeping an old D100 for Infra Red images, which have always been an interest to him. Perhaps this is driven by the abstraction from reality aspect of Bobs work which is so prevalent in his work. Having an eye for an image that would tell a story Bob has a key guideline that he rigorously applies, no manipulation of the subject is allowed. Bob strongly believes in taking the subject ‘as-is’ no posing of subjects, moving items etc. He greatly admires photographers who are expert in that technique, however, for himself it is capturing the essential essence of the subject matter that is vital to him. Bob has had his work published in the national press in England covering news events as well as having several shows in both the UK and in New York and has recently decided to move onto the web. He is a keen member of the Blackstone Valley Art Association and Arts Worcester and as well as photography he is also a keen sculptor and abstract painter as shown in the art gallery.

SMPTE® 2017 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition, Oct. 24-26 in Hollywood: Renowned Media and Entertainment Technology Event Will Follow Daylong SMPTE 2017 Symposium Focusing on AI and Machine Learning in Digital Media Creation SMPTE, the organization whose standards work has supported a century of advances in entertainment technology, has opened registration for the SMPTE 2017 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition (SMPTE 2017), Oct. 24-26 in Hollywood, California, as well as for the SMPTE 2017 Symposium preceding the conference on Oct. 23. Early bird rates are available now through Aug. 12. SMPTE’s Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition is the world’s premier forum for the exploration of media and entertainment technology. Taking place at the Hollywood & Highland Center, the event will fill two exhibit halls and multiple session rooms. SMPTE 2017 will also feature a beer garden, Broadcast Beat’s SMPTE 2017 Live! Studio, and a series of special events culminating with the Annual SMPTE Awards Gala hosted in the Loews Hollywood Hotel’s Hollywood Ballroom on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 26. “The rapid pace of change in the media and entertainment industry makes the SMPTE Annual Conference & Exhibition a critically important event for anyone wishing to experience and understand the latest advances in motion-imaging and audio,” said SMPTE Education Vice President Richard Welsh. “For four days in October, Hollywood will be the place to learn about the research, standards, technologies, and techniques that are enabling amazing new experiences for media consumers worldwide.” Titled “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning in Digital Media Creation: The Promise, The Reality, and The (Scary?) Future,” the day-long SMPTE 2017 Symposium on Oct. 23 will examine how these technologies have gained significant traction in the creation of digital media. Presenters will offer practical use cases throught the production chain — including story and script development, music composition, contextual analysis of dailies, edit preparation, imaging processing, visual effects (VXF) preparation, and audience engagement, along with discoverability and distribution of content. Experts and visionaries in the field will assist attendees in establishing a firm foundation for understanding a technology which may eventually disrupt the media and entertainment industry. The Symposium is included with select conference packages or as an add-on or stand-alone registration. The SMPTE 2017 program committee is chaired by SMPTE Fellows Paul Chapman, senior vice president of technology at Fotokem; Thomas Edwards, vice president of technology and engineering at FOX; and Sara Kudrle, product marketing manager at Imagine Communications. Thursday, Oct. 26 • Day three of SMPTE 2017 technical conference sessions will extend the entire day, with both exhibit halls open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. • The Annual SMPTE Awards Gala will welcome ticketed guests on the red carpet and treat them to a reception and dinner  honoring industry leaders.
