Hello, and welcome to Desiree Steele's Photography! I have been taking pictures of people and places since I was in high school; nearly 23 years. In the past few years my business has taken off and I am having a blast capturing beautiful smiles, pouts, cries, dance moves, "aha" moments and such. I take pictures for the pure joy of giving back and I have been extremely blessed in the process. My pictures are very organic in nature and I love taking time to capture YOU and YOUR FAMILY. My hopes is that your session will be relaxed and memories will be forever captured. I do not have a set sitting fee, I let that be led by you and what you feel you can afford. My hope is that ALL can have beautiful memories captured through my photography. You can purchase fully edited professional prints through my website or for $75.00 you can purchase a flashdrive of 20 beautiful shots to do with as you please. Anything over the 20 shots will be $2.00 a picture. However, I can not guarantee quality prints unless ordered through my website. I also have a small travel fee of $25.00 for all shoots that I have to travel north of the river(aka Lady Bird Lake) or outside of the Austin city limits. Why do I not charge a typical photographer's fee? Through some difficult situations in my life and my sister having a stroke, I have come to realize the importance that everyone should have beautiful pictures of their family. Pictures are what memories are made of and everyone (no matter what your financial circumstance) should have them and I want to be that person to bring them to you. I look forward to capturing the beauty of who God created you to be and in return I give Him glory for every session and the beauty that comes from it. Born in Tela Honduras, my family migrated to New Orleans LA in 1960. I met my wife of 33 years in New Orleans and eventually settled in the Tampa Bay FL area in the late '90s. Photography has been my passion for about 12 years. It started in May of 2000 when we went on a vacation to Cairns Australia and I had a cheapo Kodak disposable camera...the images were horrible (duh!). From that moment on, I was determined to photograph the color of life as best as I could. As a freelance photographer, my mission is to capture those timeless moments of life, document important events and places, portray people in ambient light and create images that compel one’s attention. As you view my images you’ll find out a lot about me. For instance, I see natural landscapes and the creatures that call them home as being at the same time grand works of art and also places for renewal, connection and education. It’s probably also apparent that I love to travel. The world is a big, beautiful and fascinating place, and my travel images aim to show it in all its glory. Photographing people and their cultures is one big reason I travel, and I hope my images tell you something about what makes all of us unique, along with all that we share. In short, despite all my photographs of nature and landscape, I am also a photographer of people, especially in those candid moments: with family or friends, with their pets, or simply alone. I’m very serious about photography as art, as a way to communicate what is more difficult (even impossible) to say with words. I don't tend to shoot popular subjects or incorporate trendy looks into my images. My influences from without are as numerous and varied as the whole world is. Influences from within include my past careers as an earth scientist and also a teacher. Both continue to inform my photography. For example my landscape images often highlight aspects of the region’s geologic history. My strong affinity for nature and animals of all kinds is a major influence as well. Global travel has given me a keen awareness of human impacts on the environment. We are forever connected after all - to the earth which gives us everything, and to each other. I am an avid blogger, and my newer images turn up there with interesting back-stories or in an educational context. Please click on the blog button to see what is current.
