The Institute of Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna is an academic teaching and research centre offering interdisciplinary practice in various areas of contemporary design.

The basic objective of the study is to train students to be independent and responsible design personalities, who work in all current and future media and to be active in artistic areas. Conceptual thinking and content research, the creation of an awareness of global interactions and the development of personal responsibility for the design of our environment, form the basis for work in print and electronic/digital media, brand design, illustration and animation, photography and time-based media, typography and printed graphics, and sound design. Workshops and lectures by national and international experts from various disciplines enrich the study at a handicrafts, design and intellectual level. Konzeptionelles Denken und inhaltliche Recherche, Bewusstseinsbildung für globale Zusammenhänge, Ausbildung persönlicher Verantwortlichkeit für die Gestaltung unserer Umwelt schaffen die Basis für Arbeiten in zeitbasierten Medien, interaktiven Medien und Print, Brand und Corporate Design, Story Telling, Fotografie, Illustration, Typografie, Druckgrafik, Packaging, Informations- und Ausstellungsdesign, Sound Design. Workshops und Vorträge nationaler und internationaler Experten verschiedener Disziplinen bereichern das Studium auf handwerklicher, gestalterischer und intellektueller Ebene.

Philipp Penz is an artist based in Vienna, Austria, specialized in sculpting and painting. He studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and is since then busy working on his art and participating in exhibitions and galleries such as Parallel Vienna, Wunderkammer, Lifespan, Barrierefreiheit im Kopf and Heiligenkreuzer Hof.

Hani Rashid's studio will focus on students working to develop conceptual, practical and critical skills and means for the making of new, compelling and forward thinking architecture.
