Do you ever wonder what life is like without Facebook?

I am a mother, a wife, and a photographer... in that order. ;) I love my family first and foremost. I am a jack of many trades, I love creating, everything - from beautiful images, to costumes, to yummy foods. I love my craft closet, (which is full of stuff I can use to make things for you session that will make it that much more interesting) I love my costume and prop collection, I love thrift stores and flea markets, and I love a good sale anywhere. I enjoy reading good long books as well as writing, (although life has seemed to push that pastime to the side for the most part) and I rarely ever watch TV. I enjoy the outdoors and sports, and when I get old I will be be an avid traveler. ;) The sky amazes me and I have recently began taking random photos of it (awesome for overlays)...., I would love to have a second house at the ocean. I have an obsession with dying my hair random colors dependent upon my mood, and lately am rarely seen without a bandana tied around my head. If asked about my favorite color, I would have to say that I love them all (which is reflected throughout the walls of my home) yet I always gravitate toward things that are black. I am inspired in one way or another by everything that I have ever seen or experienced. (good, bad, and ugly) I like to think that I am a very intelligent person, I have an extremely sarcastic sense of humor at times, and I truly enjoy people. I have a very good sense of style, although my clothing choices for myself may not always reflect that as I am often in a tank top and jeans. (That said, you will never catch me dead in "mom" jeans) I drive too fast, and love music....all genres, like in a "My name is Amanda and I must be schizophrenic due to my playlist" kind of way.... I am not a "professionally trained photographer" so I can show you no credentials aside from my portfolio, as I am completely self taught and expand on my creativity and knowledge whenever possible. I suppose we can call me an extremely passionate artist of the lens, eager to capture and create some fantastic images for you. We are each an unique work of art, I am here to make sure your portraits reflect just that. I can produce a perfectly beautiful image of you sooc (straight out of camera), although rarely will I ever be satisfied with leaving it at that. I would like to consider myself extremely versatile in the creativity department. I love to do themed shoots, and can create costumes as well as other items necessary to pull them off. I have an eye for location, and love and appreciate natural light and texture. I am slightly "edgy", and love to think outside of the box. While there is nothing "conservative" about my taste or personality, I am able to mold my creative juices to suit the situation. So, no matter if you are looking to push the boundaries, or stay comfortably, simply, and beautifully artistic I am the photographer for you. I can do it all. I fell in love with photography at age 15 when I got my first SLR camera for Christmas back in 1983. I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer but photography school was too expensive so I never pursued it professionally. In my 20's, I didn't have time to do much photography due to... well, life. At around age 32 I decided I wanted to be happy, finally, and I wanted to take control of my life instead of being controlled by my job. So I started getting back into my photography and practicing and shooting and reading everything I could get my hands on and teaching myself how to be a better photographer. So at age 34 I started my photography business. This was in 2002 about 6 months after 9/11. Probably not the best time to start a business, but for me it was now or never. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life! I put everything I had into it with the attitude that "I will make this happen!" Failure was not an option. To my surprise... three years later, I was shooting 50 weddings a year. The best part... I am happy! I love what I do, I love my life... What could be better than that? About My Photography I don't like to label my style of photography. I just go with what I am feeling from the bride and groom and what I am feeling from the wedding location. The light, the colors, the textures all play a part in how I shoot. I bring a relaxed, fun and confident attitude to my shoots. I get told by my clients that I am a joy to work with and I make them feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I get people at my weddings telling me, "Dude, your an awesome photographer!" I'm like, "You haven't even seen the pictures yet." "Don't need to. I can just tell by watching you that you're an awesome photographer. You never miss anything. You're just right on it." My Story and How I Started My name is Jason R. Samy. I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember, but I got my first experience with a 35mm SLR in my early adult life. Over time I converted to digital and I haven't ever looked back. My portfolio displays many styles of photography that I’ve learned over the years and I continue to expedient with different techniques. I started off shooting anything in front of me, but ask anyone who knows me; I’m rarely without my camera. Outside of taking pictures of my friends, family, and things around me, I started shooting different dance events and shows. That got me started on some portrait and portfolio work. And this eventually led to my first engagement and wedding shoots. I can say because of my experiences, that i am somewhat a “jack of all trades” kind of photographer. I am still striving to find my niche in photography and learn with every push of the trigger on my camera, but I love to photograph everything. A lot of events in life happen in the blink of an eye, and photos are once in a life time moments that I like to capture and share with everyone. Photography started as a hobby for me, and as lucky as it sounds to some, it is now a passion that I get paid to do. Happy Valentine's Day!! When you become a mom, Valentine's Day takes on a whole other meaning. Suddenly, there is more than just one love in your life. And it is your job to honor that love. Gone are the romantic dinners, flowers and candle light! Very rarely will you get whisked off on a romantic get-away weekend. Instead, you will receive dried macaroni necklaces, painted hearts and shiny plastic rings. And oddly enough, these little trinkets will mean more to you than any diamond. Well, almost. How to honor your little one on Valentine's Day? Well, now, that truly is the question. For years I would start the day off for my boys with a special breakfast. When they came running to the breakfast table, they would find a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a gift at their place setting. The gift was always jammie themed – a new pair of pajamas, slippers, a new blanket or a new stuffed animal. Other than baking heart-shaped cookies, and occasionally a desert for dinner, that is really all I ever did for my boys on Valentine's Day. As more and more boys were added to the family, the tradition slowly died out. And so I found myself wondering, what do I do for Valentine's Day this year? If you are in the same boat, fear not!! The day is not done. Try one of these ideas for a last minute Valentine Day surprise – and the ones that require a little more planning can always be tucked away for next year! 21 Ways To Spend Valentine's Day With Your Children 1. Surprise them with a special breakfast. Make it something gooey and sweet! After all, isn't that what this day is all about? Try some cinnamon rolls, monkey break, caramel rolls, muffins or scones. For an extra special treat, serve them cake for breakfast! 2. Give them a themed gift every year. Like I said, I did a pajama theme. But this can be anything. Maybe it's sports related, a game themed gift, bath related or a movie theme. The trick is to keep the same theme every year, but to find a different gift from year to year. 3. Give them a box of chocolate. A traditional touch, for sure. This makes a nice addition to any tradition. 4. Cook dinner together. Cooking dinner together is always fun for the little kids, but as your children get older, it becomes more of a chore. Make it fun by serving a yummy punch or pop, cranking up some music and joking around while you cook! 5. Have a candle light dinner. Younger kids love this one. They know there is something extra special going on when you dim the lights and light a candle. 6. Have a special dinner together. Maybe it's dinner out. Maybe it's a heart-shaped pizza. Or maybe you serve them their favorite pasta. Whatever it is, make it stand out. Serve some sparkling water or juice in a wine glass for kicks! 7. Make it a date night. Take your kids out for dinner and a movie. Or hit the bowling alley or the skating rink. Do something fun as a family. 8. Watch a movie together. Snuggle up together on the couch, pop some popcorn and put on that movie you've been meaning to sit down and watch. Make it a pajama party or slumber party to set it apart from any other movie night. 9. Play a board game together. Let them stay up late and play a game together. Serve some yummy snacks, a special drink and just have fun! 10. Camp out in their bedroom for the night. If you have older kids, play some video games with them until late in to the night. If your kids are younger, sleep on the floor in their room. Have a slumber party together! 11. Surprise them with a special delivery at school. Have some balloons, a cupcake, a flower or something special delivered to your child at school, in front of his or her classmates. 12. Take them out for lunch on their school lunch break. Have them excused over their lunch break and take them someplace special! 13. Have breakfast with them at school. If they eat breakfast at school in the morning, join them! If you can't make breakfast, you can always join them for lunch. 14. Take them away for the weekend. You may no longer be whisked away for a romantic weekend but you sure can kidnap your kids for a weekend away! Surprise them by picking them up from school and darting off for a fun-filled weekend of things they love. 15. Give them a journal you have kept for the past year. Start a journal in January, end it in December, and give it to them as a Valentine's Day gift. Fill the pages with letter of love, funny things they did, things you are proud of, or times you missed them throughout the year. 16. Create a scrapbook for them. There are so many ways to scrapbook now! Create a traditional scrapbook with paper and scissors, create one on-line with Shutterfly or Mixbook, create a book out of your FaceBook Wall or from your instagram account with Chatbook. 17. Have a school skip day and go somewhere fun instead. It's okay, I promise. If you know your child can easily make up the work, skip a day! Go have fun. Everyone deserves a mental health day. ;-) 18. Give them a homemade gift. If you have special talents, such as knitting, painting, making jewelry, etc., use it! Make something special for your child. 19. Visit someone who may be lonely on Valentine's Day. Not everyone is lucky enough to be surrounded by children on Valentine's Day. Take yours to visit someone who might be alone on Valentine's Day. The elderly would be a good place to start – they love little kids! 20. Bake a Valentine treat together. Make some cookies or a cake together. Surprise a loved one with the goodies! 21. Since May 2015 the Babel-University project website has been down. Since then I have received a lot of emails from project supporters , So I've set up this page to provide some answers. What happened? The short answer is that my savings account went dry and I couldn't afford to keep the server up and running. The longer answer starts in March of 2013, when my wife and I made the decision to move back to the United States. As many of you may know, My wife is a Japanese national and we have two sons. Since both our boys were born in Japan, we wanted to return to the United States for a few years so that they could experience western culture. So we started my wife's visa application and began saving for our trip back to the states. Since my position at the Board of Education was based on an annual contract and we intended to move back to the U.S. mid 2014, I had to resign from my position in March of that year. Unfortunately the visa application process took far longer and cost far more than we had anticipated (15 months and $6000 USD to be exact). Although in March of 2015, we'd made it to the last stage of the visa application process, we were informed that since my income for the last three years was location dependent, unless I could show that I had more than $75,000 USD in savings, they couldn't approve my wife's visa. Since we'd been living off of our savings since my resignation and $75,000 was more than three times my annual income as a teacher, we abandoned our plans and hunkered down here in Japan. I had hoped that the Babel-University project would be able to sustain enough sales to pay for the dedicated server on which it was running. Due to security issues related to shared hosting, one of the requirements to be included in the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED) is that you host your download site on a dedicated server. However in January when I announced the development of Babel-U-Exams 2.0, sales flat lined and in May, I had to cancel my server subscription. Is the project dead? Although the Babel-University site is offline and I can't offer download access to the extension at the moment, I would like to revive the project, but before I can do that, I need to get back on my feet and figure out how to make it sustainable. I'm using Babel-U-Extension, what should I do now? If you are currently running a live site using Babel-U-Extensions, then you have a few options. Option One: Migrate The first option is to migrate to an alternative solution. I know there are several other extensions that offer similar functionality, so finding an alternative shouldn't be difficult. However migrating the database to a different extension isn't going to be easy. You'll need to either have a very strong mastery of SQL or hire a database administrator to handle the migration process. Option Two: Start Over If you don't mind losing the exam data you have, then you can always start over with an alternative extension. This is the most cost effective option, but it does require that you manually import exams and questions into whatever extension you choose. Option Three: Maintain it in-house The third option is to maintain the system in-house. I've worked very hard to insure that the code in all Babel-U-Extensions is clean, stable and well documented. So any proficient PHP developer that has experience with the Joomla CMS should be able work with the code. Option Four: Hire me (Highly Recommended) Truthfully I'm between a rock and a hard spot at the moment. The Babel-University project was how I established my credibility as a web developer, so since the site went down, my freelance income is hit and miss. Although I've been looking for something here in Japan, living in the boondocks limits the opportunities I have. How do we experience the transparency of the photographic medium? What it is like to stare at transparency? Are all of us capable of seeing transparency or many observers just note that pictures look &ldquo;realistic&rdquo;? Is it the realism of the image in relation to human perception or the realism of the image in relation to camera obscura phenomena? Does large format camera and silver emulsion increase the transparency and penetrates the person in frame in a specific way? Collodion process is extremely delicate, the unavoidable defects are part of its specifics and show the unique character of each photo. The suggestion of emergence and immersion of the image are very essential for the process, the image seems as if moving in a thick layer of emulsion. Inspired by these essentials &ldquo;Levels of Transparency&rdquo; are divided in two parts &ndash; the initial plates present classical portraits with insignificant or small imperfections and the secondary plates present portraits &ldquo;disturbed&rdquo; with intentional chemical interventions, stopping the emergence or transforming the image.

Though most people have likely heard, and are relatively familiar with, yoga, the paired physical and psychological (and to some, spiritual) exercises which arose out of the Hindu, Jainist and Buddhist traditions, not many are familiar with hot yoga. Hot yoga is just about what it sounds like, yoga with a lot of heat in a very literal sense. Hot yoga class rooms are generally heated well above room temperature, usually a little about 100 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). With that being said, be prepared to sweat - a lot - when taking a hot yoga class in your local area and remember to dress appropriately. Form fitting, yet light and breathable clothing will usually be your best bet. Do Not Overexert Lastly, beware of stretching too far, this is something you should definitely try to avoid in normal yoga programs as well but pay special attention to your movements and the way your muscles feel with hot yoga. The reason for this is that heat helps one stretch out the muscles but this can also lead to overstretching and, in extreme cases, muscle tearing. So with that being said, do not ever push yourself too far, or too hard - yoga is not a competition unless you make it one and there is absolutely no shame in taking a little break and letting your muscles recover.
