Current challenges in advanced materials for renewable energy, quantum information processing and storage, and low energy-demand applications requires a deep understanding of the relationships between charge, spin, and photochemically generated excited states in functional materials. Research in the Frank group focuses on new organic-based materials for spin-mediated charge-transfer and excited state processes in organic materials for photovoltaics, charge-storage and energy-storage, spintronics, and biosensors.
