The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provides innovative leadership to federal, state, local, and tribal justice systems, by disseminating state-of-the art knowledge and practices across America, and providing grants for the implementation of these crime fighting strategies. OJP works in partnership with the justice community to identify the most pressing crime-related challenges confronting the justice system and to provide information, training, coordination, and innovative strategies and approaches for addressing these challenges.

The Columbia University Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest in the country in terms of faculty size as well as state, federal, and foundation research support. We have extraordinary clinical, educational, and research resources. Our faculty includes over 400 psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and neuro-behavioral scientists. Two faculty members were recently selected as Nobel Prize Laureates for their work in neuroscience, Drs. Eric Kandel (2000) and Richard Axel (2004). Clinical facilities and laboratories of the Psychiatry Department are located in a large number of institutions and health care systems. These include New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the Washington Heights Community Mental Health Center. The Department of Psychiatry also houses the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior, the Mind/Brain Institute, a Howard Hughes Research Institute and the Stanley Center for Applied Neuroscience of Bipolar Disorders.

Board-certified psychotherapists Jeanette Cueva and David Krakow specialize in treating pediatric, young adult and adult psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, women’s health problems, and conduct private clinical research for Phase III and Phase IV studies.

The main directions of Kintech Lab activity are: software development for kinetic and thermodynamic evaluation, reactor simulation and optimization of chemical processes, calculation of solid state properties, as well as applied investigations. They are accompanied by expert assistance and consulting.
