Las Animas County was one of the original counties in the State of Colorado. It is still the largest county in the state at 4,749 square miles, and the third largest in the United States. Provide Livescan fingerprinting services for school personnel, bus drivers, conceal and carry, etc. (Fingerprints are then forwarded to either the Illinois State Police or the FBI, or both.) Administers work permits for youth employment. The ROE also conducts annual school building inspections and inspects the building plans and specifications of public school rooms and buildings under construction.
